JULY 2018 NET - CHANGES IN EXAM PATTERN

JULY 2018 NET - CHANGES IN EXAM PATTERN

Hello Aspirants,
Let me clear some points for the new notification from UGC regarding NET Examination as it is published in The Hindustan Time on 22/01/2018. (http://paper.hindustantimes.com/epaper/viewer.aspx)

Ø Next Net exam will be conducted on - 8th July 2018
Ø Submission of online application form – 6th Mar 2018
Ø Last date for applying online – 5th Apr 2018
Ø Last date of submission of Fee through online generated Bank Challan - 06 Apr 2018

Let me clear about the exam pattern.

Ø This time only two papers will be there in NET Exam (instead of three papers)
Ø First Paper – about general and educational awareness – 50 questions – each question consisting 2 Marks – means 100 marks for the first paper.
Ø Second Paper – 100 questions – each question consisting 2 Marks – means 200 marks for the second paper.
Ø Total Marks – 300

By mistake, it is mentioned 100 questions and 100 marks for second paper, but I am sure UGC will rectify it. There must be 200 marks for the second paper. UGC is going to update it on its website on 1st Feb 2018. Please keep patience.

Now regarding the pattern, let me clear you some points again – Previously – the first general paper had 50 objectives (100 Marks), 2nd paper related to subject knowledge had objectives (100 Marks) and 3rd Paper again related to subject knowledge had 75 objectives (150 Marks). It means the complete examination consisted 350 Marks.

Since the second and the third paper are related to the same subject and almost have the same syllabus, it is unnecessary to conduct two separate exams for the same subject. UGC has taken a right decision to amalgamate both second and third paper and now aspirants will have to face only second subject related paper.

Previously students had to face 175 questions and total allotted time for it was 300 minutes i.e. 5 hours. (1 hour 15 minutes for first paper, 1 hour 15 minutes for second paper and 2 hours and 30 minutes for third paper).

Now the Net aspirants have to face 150 questions – for first paper 50 questions in 1 hour (60 minutes) and 100 questions within 2 hours (120 minutes). Total 180 minutes, means 3 hours. UGC has reduced only 25 questions, but simultaneously also reduced 120 minutes (2 hours). So, let me warn you about the danger in the upcoming exam. The upcoming exam will be the toughest if students won’t prepare properly under proper instructions.

SPEED AND ACCURACY WILL BE THE KEY TO SUCCESS

It seems that the standard of the upcoming NET Exam paper will be equaled to UPSC Exam papers.

But nothing to afraid about it – let me clear more points…
Ø Since 2nd and 3rd papers are amalgamated and now we have only 2nd paper related to subject knowledge – unnecessary stress of working on the same subject with two different papers is reduced.
Ø No Descriptive Pattern, No Negative Marking.
Ø Students with high comprehension ability and memorizing power (which can be improved with proper techniques) have the highest chances to clear the Net exam.
Ø JRF age limit is increased from 28 to 30 for General Category Candidates and 35 to OBC/SC/ST.
Ø Since UGC tests overall knowledge of the subject, so it must be noticed that THE PATTERN IS CHANGED NOT THE SYLLABUS. It will remain the same.

It is my humble request to all the NET Aspirants, not to get chaotic or viable regarding the change in the pattern. Some professionals always try to make most of such situations by misleading the students.  The changes are always welcomed.

They are for the betterment of the educational field and the nation itself.

Instead of wasting time to discuss the changes, discuss the studies. Focus on preparation and not on results. Prepare well and success will be yours.

If any updates, definitely I will inform you. If any query, you can ask me anytime.

BE FOCUSED.

Thanks.
